Sort of like it was always smiling, but rarely laughing. Do you agree?ĭaniel: I don’t know, I felt that while the text in Sworcery was fun, I didn’t feel like it was actually actively trying to be funny most of the time. Like a cross between Tim Schafer and The Dude. Without going into too much detail, the outcome of this encounter can have some amusing results in the grand narrative scheme of things - which, by the way, sports some of the funniest game writing I’ve seen in some time. The LP should be familiar territory for anyone who’s followed Guthrie’s previous electronic and synthesized diversions. A big part of Sworcery’s mood and atmosphere is entirely owed to Guthrie’s socre - something that stands on its own extremely well - which pretty much made Ballad of the Space Babies a day one purchase for me. ![]() It’s not just a soundtrack, but a musical experience that’s entirely dependent on user interaction, something I can totally dig. Matt: There’s once particular segment in-game where you’re sitting in a forest with Guthrie, and he plays a little song. It’s a game that “you know when you’re playing it that the game knows that you’re playing.” That sounds like the game might be intimidating and pretentious and the fact that it isn’t is one of it’s great feats.Īnd speaking of Jim Guthrie, his music kind of knocked me on my ass.
